How to save the world with dance

The real world...and the world in you.
For one of my modules I had to present my future company. The one I actually want to do- my goal. Combining the arts, dance music and art, into psychotherapy sessions AND THEN having a company to properly represent key issues brought up (keeping all confidentiality of course). In two years- start looking out for TURTLE ARTS and wherever its base ends up. At least we now have our website, and some of the material is already being written.
Now what do I mean to save something?
We all need saving from something in our life, in every point. No matter what you think or how positive you are there is always a one nagging issue- whether small or big- yet this small or large trouble may suddenly become overbearing. You are going through a breakup, lost someone close, no job, been abused, or any number of combinations your life may be a bit like a soap opera. Trust me I reflect on the last 4 years and think how could so much have gone on and I can still sit and be positive (down days of course). There is one common denominator which has never left my side through everything- and everyone I thought would never go.
Yes that was ME.
But even more specific, it was what I was CHOOSING to do. I don't sit and cry, feel sorry for myself, I try and stop overthinking. (Again yes I have those late night stressed out- the world is ending conversations as we all do) but in the majority.
I was dancing, expressing myself the only way I know how. Yes that's good for me in that moment, and no I don't watch dance like I watch much on TV- or go to watch a dance piece when I am down. BUT. When dance is seen, live in the flesh, it is one of the most powerful things.
How can I save anything?
I am just one person, a spec in the universe. Me as myself can make ripples in the world BUT by combining people the ripples become a wave.
Dance is an age old human tradition, something we do and have done innately from as far back as we can discover. It shows our ability to communicate without words, express feelings and emotions and sync our body patterns up with any other.
So now-a-days by having this company we are able to show that we all stand together as humanity. Dealing with issues with correct research and ability to do so with respect, we can spark the waves of change. Dance brings it to an audience in a different way to screaming on the streets or writing words. We see things unfold in front of us. We can ignore words but yet still cannot ignore another human. Why do you think we don't look at homeless people in the street, we say we are desensitised? Well dance takes it one step closer to humanity by having an audience willingly consent to watch and be engrossed, seeing a human, and watching the pain or suffering, happiness and joy within their body (that we do not in someone we pass in two seconds trying to ignore).
What can I change before a company?
Without a company I can still make work. I am , one every year same as the foreseeable future. I may not be counselling people for the next two years BUT there is all the time to study, get the theories, watch case studies unravel before my eyes. This waiting time will only strengthen what is to come.
Back to volunteering in the place I discovered my passion for all of this- 2 years on top of my 2 already.
What can dance do for you?
You may not like it, understand it or be completly confused by the thought. Just go. Anywhere. Express yourself in a way that cannot be tied down- people only ever based YOU of their interpretations and their stance on life but now they will judge all of that in dance and not words or anything they have to hold against you or judge outside watching. If that makes any sense.
Go to a class- be free.
Improve Memory, co ordination, have a clear thinking space
Escapism
Remove toxic traits
Be the YOU you know you are deep down
Express what matters
You cannot hide behind anything when you move- the reality pours out
Find your clarity and listen to the universe
As you can tell I am biased. But I WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. I WILL SPEAK THROUGH WHAT IS IMPORTANT AND GIVE EVERYONE A VOICE. I WILL NOT HIDE BEHIND ANYTHING AND THEREFORE I WILL DANCE.
