Monday
Today is the first day of my straight 12 hours. Straight from class I took the hour walk to the other side of Sliema to support Opening Doors with their show approaching next week. I got amazing insight into budgeting schemes and ways to applying for funding, as well as helping alter costumes and help with lighting.
I got home late in the evening and pretty much went straight to bed exhaused and ready for tomorrow.
Tuesday
Today I didn't write a post, but it was pretty much the same as Monday. Class- Opening Doors- Bed.
Wednesday
I had to book my flights back to the UK for my work. As nice as it will be back, i wont be back home and so won't be around my friends and family again properly until late August- 'perks' of travelling i guess.
I have definitely preferred this week dancing release technique. The classes have been more relaxed, allowing more time to understand and be told what is expected of us AND NOW I KNOW WHAT OUR TEACHER HAS BEEN GOING ON ABOUT ALL TERM and feeling a lot safer of an environment. Our exam is going to be a killer as instead of having separate phrases, we are having long repetitive actions of one phrase which is consisted of 5 segments.
My ankles have been on fire today, more so than normal, showing I am strengthening them but it is also holding me back in jumps in class or I push and feel worse after (something I am doing in release). This class has taught me more so how more confident i need to be in myself and not let anyone effect my inner state.
Partnering today was a series of DV8 inspired lifts. We spent the session literally jumping onto someone and falling safely to the floor to allow the jumper to roll away safely. I enjoy these hour sessions, as I have tricks to put into choreography- should I remember them all.
I am home by the early afternoon. A miracle. I will spend the rest of my evening, sending off the blogs to Opening Doors and catching up on some needed rest before the next two weeks ahead of visits (so excited, cant complain).
Thursday
Straight after class my best friends from home arirved in the late hours of the day. At midnight where I would usually be asleep for my 8:30 start the next day, i was getting ready to meet them in St Julians.
Thursdays in Paceville are Ok, even though the music choices were a bit naff and mixed.
Friday
1 hour of sleep and I was straight into a ballet class. Surprisingly I wasn't feeling too bad and had a similar energy to the majority of the class, just felt sick with tiredness. Being tired affects my balance, meaning I cant go from a balance in 5th to a retire but instead have to use the barre to get into a retire before balancing (for example). At least now I know when I am beyond exhausted I am still capable of a ballet class. I am learning my bodily limits.
Today was the third year performance practitioner performance, so straight after classes we were in rehearsal. I am so proud how much I have retained and my multitasking skills of speaking and moving after just one rehearsal. The performance went well, and I rewarded myself with a 30 minute nap on the sofa in the dance studio before me and a mate headed back to the flat where my mates greeted us with food. THANK GOD- I HADN'T EATEN SINCE YESTERDAY.
We packed and went to their hotel in Paceville and started getting ready. Friday nights are SO much better. All our family songs came on.
Saturday
After a second sleepover I am feeling like me again. I am surrounded by so much love and support that is really getting me through a hard time and as a result I am getting closer to my dancing friends. Nothing like midnight chats lets you work out whats wrong.
Saturday nights are too busy. The girls and boys ended up being completely separated the entire night, missing each other between our two favourite clubs. I am not one to get claustrophobic but tonight was too much for me. There was no room to dance, but Malta nights out are now forever known for the dance battles that take over Havana leaving my best mates to think everyone on a night out is now a dancer.
Sunday
Gozo. Beach. Saw my first jelly fish and then saw it die :(
Last night with my family was amazing. These guys really can support me no matter what. Sunday was just as busy as Thursday but Havana was playing the best music, and the DJ was taking requests the whole night.
My last sleepover in St Julians was so weird, knowing this will probably be the last time I will spend a night here. My 7 weeks in Malta are coming too quick.
